Polisteatern presents THE GYM by Stina Pettersson in a dramatic reading starring Amalia Holm!

Maja is at the gym, the gym that is mostly a spa. But her demons find her despite the luxurious surroundings. She is angry with so many people, and dependent on the very same people. Her Joan Didion-like mother is just one example.

Maja is also thinking quite a bit about her ex, Viking, and their big, beautiful romance that could have ended a bit better. Who is she supposed to be now, on the other side of all that? Malte, her current boyfriend, is starting to seem like a somewhat unsustainable solution.

Amalia Holm was acting on the big screen while still in highschool. After graduating she started doing leading parts in movies and tv shows. Then she moved to Canada to act all the time. She missed Stina so much. Now, happily married and with money in the bank, she can indulge her bestie and pursue small stage stuff. In this piece she goes ape shit bananas like she has nothing to loose. Please don’t tell her otherwise.

Stina Pettersson is a young woman struggling to find her voice and purpose. All donations welcome. THE GYM is the first thing she has written for the stage, and she is loving going live. If you read Swedish, you can check out Stina Pettersson’s other work, including some truly mediocre takes about social democracy as well as various other think pieces. Might make you giggle.
